Who Are You Living For?

Where are you going? Think about that for a second. What are you headed towards and what is the purpose for your life?

As followers of Christ, it is clearly stated in 1 Corinthians 10:31  that "Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

So I want you to take a moment and think about your life. Think about you actions, think about your words, think about your thoughts, think about your desires. Now think...

~Do they glorify God?~

If the answer is no then you're not alone. Everyone, including myself fall short of the glory of God. But even so, it is our job to walk as Christ did and to be an example to those around us, and in order to do that, everything we do should be for the glory of the Lord.

A common misconception in this day and age is that this life is ours and we can do whatever we want with it!! ...I am going to have to go ahead and point out the fact that that statement is entirely wrong. Many times we forget that this life is not our own! If we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior then we no longer live for ourselves but we live for Christ.

Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

Are you living your life for Christ, or are you living your life for yourself?

This life is not about you, it's not about me, it's about our incredible and wonderful Savior who died a gruesome and horrific death in order to free each one of us from all our sins, all our guilt, all our shame, all our despair, anything that is not from Him. HE did that.

Our God is worthy of a lifestyle of faithfulness and holiness and if your actions do not glorify God then they deny your testimony. And if your actions deny your testimony, then you have denied God. We need to stop and realize that we are nothing without God. We have no purpose, we have no real joy, we have no real security, we have no true love! When we aren't living for God we become selfish. It all about me me me and I I I and what is going to make ME happy and what are they going to do for ME? That's not glorifying the Lord!

When you are living a life for Christ you're not thinking about yourself, you're not thinking about what you want and desire, you're thinking about others. When you're living a life for Christ you don't want to stop giving and loving and spreading the glory of the Lord! Our minds should be more focused on what God is asking us to do and how we can help those around us rather than what we can do for ourselves. It is our JOB as followers of Christ to glorify God in all we do and it should be evident in every aspect of lives to those around us that we're walking in the Spirit.

In a message that Mr. Mahon preached at Bethel Dallas, he said this and ever since it has always stuck with me: "Don't expect riches and glory when you don't exercise yourself towards godliness."

You can't expect the riches of the Kingdom by simply saying that you love God and that you follow God, but aren't actually living for him. It's time for us to take a hard cold look at ourselves and see what parts of our lives aren't glorifying God and where we're deciding to serve ourselves instead of God and make a change.

So again, ask yourself, Are you living for yourself or are you living for God?
